Phonics

What is Phonics?

Phonics is a method for teaching people how to read and write an alphabetic language. It is done by demonstrating the relationship between the sounds of the spoken language, and the letters or groups of letters or syllables of the written language.

Did you know?

There are 26 letters in the alphabet but there are 44 sounds and over 100 different ways of spelling them.

This is why English is one of the most complex languages to learn!

Synthetic Phonics

Synthetic phonics is the UK's most preferred method of teaching phonics.

Synthetic phonics is a method of teaching reading and writing, in which words are broken up into their smallest units of sound or 'phonemes'.

My Books

My books will start with series 1 and the first 26 phonemes. Then they will cover the next 16 sounds in series 2.

My books will then continue to cover digraphs, trigraphs and split digraphs in series 3, 4, 5 and 6.
